Céleste

When eleven-year-old Céleste moves with her family to a remote Caribbean island, she uncovers a web of buried secrets surrounding her father’s troubled past — and a volcano whose awakening mirrors her father’s unraveling mind.

Synopsis

In the early 1990s, 11-year-old Céleste travels with her family to a Caribbean island her father Terrence fled years ago. In the heart of the jungle, beneath a looming mountain, they discover Terrence’s childhood home — a forgotten architectural marvel swallowed by time and vegetation. As Terrence begins restoring the house, Céleste becomes irresistibly drawn to the mountain that towers above it. Her father reveals the truth: the mountain is a dormant volcano. He confides to her that, as a child, he feared it would awaken during his lifetime.

As the days pass, Terrence begins to unravel. Haunted memories and long-buried secrets resurface, blurring the line between past and present. To Céleste, the signs are unmistakable: the volcano is awakening, and her father is falling under its spell, slowly shedding his human form and transforming into a wild beast. Céleste is a fantasy film, loosely inspired by real events, that explores inherited trauma, the pull of myth, and the redemptive power of imagination.
